ABOUT THE PRODUCER
American Producer/Director/Writer, Leo McCarey (1898 - 1969),
directed several Laurel and Hardy shorts.
In 1939 he won the Screenplay Oscar for LOVE AFFAIR.
McCarey's other works include: DUCK SOUP, MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW,
THE AWFUL TRUTH, THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S, and RALLY ROUND THE FLAG
BOYS.
NOTES & TRIVA
Frank Butler and Frank Cavett received the Screenplay Oscar.
While Leo McCarey (the producer and director) received the Writing
Oscar for Original Story.
The Oscar winning song, "Swiinging On a Star" was by James
Van Heusen and lyrics by Johnny Burke. Other memorable songs include
Crosby's rendition of "Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ra".
Please note: Barry Fitzgerald who on the Supporting Actor Oscar,
was also nominated as Best Actor.
THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S was the sequel. In addition, one could kinda-say
that SISTER ACT ('92) was also inspired by GOING MY WAY.
