BULLITT (1968)

When gutsy cop Frank Bullitt is assigned to guard a Mafia informant, his friend winds up shot.  In search of his friend's killer, Bullitt does his best to keep his informant alive and uses his as bait to lure the killers in.  Meanwhile, Bullitt does his best to side-step egomaniacal superior Chalmers, who's only concern is a "gold star" and public press, and as such, intends to shut down Bullitt's investigation before justice is served.
