STAR WARS (1977)

Star Wars IV: The New Hope, is the first installment of George Lucas' 6 film saga which tells the  story of courageous rebels in their uphill fight against the evil empire forces. A tyrannical emperor, master of the dark side of the force,  with the help his powerful servant, a former Jedi Knight, Darth Vader, have been murderously hunting down the Jedi Knights,  trying to crush all opposition, and have taken over the galaxy planets in the meantime.  They have developed a new, destructive weapon to bring the rebels to their knees. Enter Luke Skywalker, Princess Leah, his trusty droids and Han Solo, and the last Jedi Kight,Obi-Wan Kenobi, to fight the good fight!

The famous cast includes: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness, and James Earl Jones.

#15 on the AFI Top 100. STAR WARS is science fiction at it's very best.

STAR WARS was nominated for the Best Picture award. Ten Oscar Nominations; six wins (including Original Score and Film Editing).

George Lucas brings us "Star Wars" which breathlessly re-invented science fiction films, and modern cinema in general. In short, Director George Lucas gives us the universe. Lucas received a nomination for best directing.
