PLOT SUMMARY...
The Enterprise arrives at the planet Deneva, where Kirk's brother has been killed by one of the countless deadly flying parasites.

This episode features exciting battles with deadly flying alien parasites. This is one of the few episodes where we find out things about Kirk's family life. Alert viewers will notice that William Shatner plays his own dead brother here! The futuristic exteriors were shot at TRW Corporation in Redondo Beach, California.

SYNOPSIS...
The Enterprise responds to an emergency signal from the planet Deneva. On the planet, Kirk finds his brother Sam dead, and his sister-in-law and nephew very ill.

Flying parasites are responsible for the disaster. Spock is bitten. Kirk and the others race to determine how to battle the parasites.

The Enterprise uses bright light to destroy the parasites. Spock is temporarily blinded, but his sight returns.
