PLOT SUMMARY...
On a mission to bring needed supplies to planetary archaeologists, the Enterprise crew encounters a deadly salt vampire.

QUICK SCAN...
The first "Star Trek" episode aired. Episodes features a rare glimpse into Dr. McCoy's past, in this case his old girlfriend Nancy Crater (Jeanne Bal from "Bachelor Father"). Alert viewers will note that Professor Crater (Alfred Ryder of "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea") uses a "blaster" type hand weapon of the type used in the first two pilots and then replaced by the sleeker "phaser".

SYNOPSIS...
The Enterprise brings supplies to two married scientists on the isolated planet M-113. One of the scientists is McCoy's old girlfriend, Nancy Crater.

Two of the landing party are found dead. On the Enterprise, McCoy's former gal pal acts strangely. A crewman is found dead, drained of salt, with weird sucker marks on him.

The wife turns out to be an alien which has assumed the form of the scientist's dead wife. The alien, which needs salt to survive, ends up on the Enterprise. The girlfriend, really a salt vampire, threatens to kill again. Spock kills it.
